Mircowave Heating

A simple way to heat your Hug at home.

Microwave heating is the quickest and most popular way to warm your Hug. These instructions are based on 700–900 watt microwave ovens. Higher-powered microwaves may require shorter heating times.

How to Heat Your Hug in the Microwave

  1. Gently press the gel to distribute it evenly across all three sections.
  2. Lay the gel pack flat with the gel evenly spread.
  3. Fold the straps in and place the gel pack, with or without the cover, so it can rotate freely without touching the microwave walls.
  4. Heat for 30 seconds.
  5. Allow the gel pack to stand for 30 seconds.
  6. Turn The Hug over and heat for a further 20–30 seconds if additional warmth is needed.
  7. Continue heating in 10–15 second intervals until your desired temperature is reached, turning the gel pack between heating intervals.
  8. Gently massage the gel between sections to help distribute the heat evenly.
  9. If one section feels cooler than the others, place the cooler section on top during the next heating cycle.
  10. Place The Hug Cover on before applying to your body if it is not already fitted.

Important Things to Know

These instructions are based on 700–900 watt microwave ovens. Higher-powered microwaves may require shorter heating times.

The Hug Cover is microwave safe and can remain on the gel pack during heating if preferred.

Microwave ovens vary significantly in power. Start cautiously and gradually increase heating times until you find what works best for your microwave.

If one section feels cooler than another, gently massage the gel between sections and redistribute the gel before reheating. You can also place the cooler section on top during the next heating cycle to help it warm more evenly.

If your microwave does not have a turntable, rotate or flip The Hug between heating intervals.

If the gel pack begins to bulge at any stage, stop heating immediately and allow it to cool before continuing.

Skin sensitivity to heat varies from person to person and can change when you are experiencing pain, injury, illness, or inflammation.

If your skin tingles, stings, feels uncomfortable, or feels too warm at any stage, remove The Hug and allow it to cool before reapplying.

The Hug should feel comfortably warm, never hot.
